Am I mogged? Tesco ads making me feel old at 35

Has anyone seen the Tesco ads on social media? I saw one on Facebook (linked on TikTok below) and it went so far over my head that I feel like I’m so out of touch at 35!
Had a quick scan of their TikTok and 67 is a big focus. I have an awareness of 67, but isn’t it my generation and older that’s doing the grocery shopping, not our 67 skibidi kids? Just wondering if anyone else finds these ads bizarre or if I’m just “mogged”!

YANBU OP, I’m only 31 and I have no idea what any of it’s about 😂

BigGirlBoxers · 09/11/2025 09:28

Ugh.I'm not even on TikTok, but the very thought of Tesco advertising this way makes me think of someone's fat sweaty uncle barging into a mosh pit and making a fool of himself.

JacknDiane · 09/11/2025 09:29

I can't even understand your opening post @Parsleyforme

Love this!

chattyness · 09/11/2025 09:31

What is mogged and 67 please?

RuncibleSpoons · 09/11/2025 09:32

I’m feeling old as I have no idea what ‘mogged’ means. Although I do know about 6-7.

What is mogged and 67 please?

Hopefully someone else can explain 67 because I have no idea… I think it’s just a phrase that kids find funny?
When I googled mogged 👵🏻 it said it basically means outranked by something/someone better. So you can be mogged by something (e.g. a mango 😂) or if you are just mogged then you’re bad and uncool - although no one says cool anymore!

These sayings are ridiculous and I don’t care if anyone thinks I’m old or “mogged” 🙄

It’s been years since I’ve been inside a mosh pit! Now I stand out the way at the back with the mums and dads… maybe I am mogged 😂

Mogged mean you are better than everyone else, or someone in particular - like "ahh you mogged him" - you were loads better than him.
If you are mogging, you are being better than everyone. "You are mogging tonight mate"

Thanks to my gen alpha translator 😁

So I guess...Tesco fruit is better than all the other fruit? SIX SEVENNNNNNN

Dragonsfrontooth · 09/11/2025 09:41

I don't think Gen Alpha and Z are doing the big festive shops so they must be trying to attract some different kind of spend. I won't be going out of my way to shop there but I don't normally anyways!

LavenderBlue19 · 09/11/2025 09:43

They're aiming their advertising at parents of children who use these terms. Obviously children and teenagers are not generally shopping at Tesco.

BitOutOfPractice · 09/11/2025 09:44

Well I was born in 67 so maybe it’s aimed at me 😁

RedRiverShore5 · 09/11/2025 09:47

I'm 67, maybe it's aimed at me, what is mogged, should it be mugged

herbalteabag · 09/11/2025 09:47

67 is something mostly primary aged school children like to say, I would say average age is about 8. Maybe they are Tesco's main target? 😂

WrittenThatWay · 09/11/2025 10:33

Well, pass me a blanket for over my knees and pour me a nice horlicks, I am clearly ancient.

Yamamm · 09/11/2025 10:44

It’s cringey. Marketers trying to get down with the kids. But they do get paid a lot of money so am sure they’re smarter than me. I mean here we are highlighting their ads for free

Well I'm never going to use either whatever they mean. Tesco please stop it you muppets!

ImthatBoleyngirl · 09/11/2025 15:54

I'm 46 and thanks to my 11 and 13 year old, know all the lingo. FYI it's 6 7 not 67! 🤣🤣

mindutopia · 09/11/2025 15:58

Are they not just taking the piss? Like the National Trust or whatever videos of pensioners being like ‘slay’ and ‘yasss queen’ about some portrait of Queen Victoria. It’s to get people talking and sharing the advert. (It worked.)

Well, I do feel like I've been mugged after my weekly shop these days so you might be on to something 😅

I only looked to find out what 'mogged' meant and I still don't know.
