DD (5) has asked for 2 Our Generation girls for Christmas.

Parent 1 thinks that one doll is enough. Two is daft and she is likely to only want to play with one. Two makes it not special.

Parent 2 thinks she has narrowed it down to 2 and cannot make a decision which her favourite is. It's not unusual to have more than one doll and it just means it comes out of the budget for her, it doesn't increase it.

Who are you with - 1 or 2?

Disclaimer - this is very light-hearted. Yes our children hear the word no. No this is not a massive issue.

I’d get them both. It’s very disappointing when you don’t get what you really, really want for Christmas when you are 5 - especially when you get presents that people think you would like just as much.
(I may be biased as DS has asked for a rock and a stone, and I’m struggling to get him to think of anything else he might like. He will definitely be getting both the things he’s asked for)

A pebble?

Unfortunately my in laws don't buy them Christmas presents and neither does my father and my mum is dead so I don't have anyone else to buy her things like this.

In that context, I'd definitely get both.

Thanks all.
Fuck it. She's getting both. One can be from FC

Aw I said w don't have anyone else

Sorry didn’t read that post. I’d get both then. If it’s what she wants and it’s in budget what difference does it make

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 07/11/2025 21:57

Glad you’re getting her both. She’s 5. It’s Christmas!

StarDolphins · 07/11/2025 22:00

I’m with parent 2…the more dolls, the better. Won’t be long before she’s watching absolute shite on YouTube so embrace the many dolls stage!

My DD9 had 4 when she was younger plus a few of the sets, you need a couple for role playing. Could you get her one and santa get her the other?

That's what we are going to do. I'm so excited!

Parent 2

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 07/11/2025 23:04

1 from Santa and one from a naughty grandparent who enjoys spoiling them. That’s how we solved this dilemma anyway! We now have 9 of them between 2 girls, they were all lined up watching me eat my lunch the other day - freaky things! 😂

One of mine used to 'collect pet rocks'........I've still got one and he's in his 30s!🥰
When asked one year what he wanted he said paper clips as he liked attaching them all together in a chain.
