Do you think this is a good idea? MH/Anxiety related.

Let me start by saying I have anxiety so I overthink every little thing and feel judged just for existing 🤣

but I really want to help my MH by getting out and about more. But (and please don’t call me silly, ridiculous, tell me to get a grip ect.. I already know it’s an awful way to live I just can’t help it) I don’t feel safe on my own, I’d love to go for a walk in the woods or in a trail.. but I just can’t do it by myself out of fear. But I’m also not interested in being social or feeling the need to try and keep a conversation.

So I’m wondering about creating a group in my local community where like-minded people can do this together. We can arrange a meeting place, walk a nature trail, or a woodland walk in a group, but can stick on a pair of headphones and not worry so much about awkward small talk and awkward silences. I mean of course there will be a degree of talking.. but it doesn’t feel as forced if it’s known that you’re there to walk not talk 🤣

my explanation is a bit hit and miss.. but don’t think many would be interested?

I think.that sounds like a brilliant idea OP.

I tried one of the council run walking groups here. But I actually left the walk after about 15 minutes because I couldn't cope with the small talk. I suffer from social anxiety and it was just too much for me.

Walking with a group in companiable silence would be ideal for me.

If you lived near me I'd join your group. Quiet companionship. Sounds lovely

I have a friend that is going through some mental health issues at the moment and this is exactly what I have offered. A walk in companionable silence with no pressure to chat.
When I was going through the same a few years ago my friends tried to get me to be social and it was too difficult for a while.

Thanks all! I’ll put it forward and see how much interest I get 🥰

I too think that this is a brilliant idea OP.
Everyone needs to get out more often; walking, especially in natural surroundings is calming and stress relieving, but it's scary for a lot of women especially ( I'm the same).
To be able to enjoy a walk with a group, and not have to keep up a conversation sounds really appealing.
If I lived near, I would sign up.
I hope you're able to coordinate this OP, a lot of people would likely be happy to join up a community group like this.
