If you found some decent flights
around 4/5 hour flights

Early flight out and late flight back, no kids, yes probably. Otherwise no.

hby9628 · 04/11/2025 21:07

Yes

HappyHedgehog247 · 04/11/2025 21:08

I think it all depends on the context. How close the airport is each side? Who you are going with? Is this your only chance of a holiday? What are the other options? It's not an outright no from me-have been to Canaries several times- but if it's just a trip away you want I'd go closer but if the guaranteed (ish) sun is important I understand. You'll have 2 full days and nights it sounds like. Paris is closer and lovelier!

Denim4ever · 04/11/2025 21:08

Yes, as more days than that there too long for me. Unless it's not hot and there are lots of museums etc.

HappyHedgehog247 · 04/11/2025 21:09

We always go hand luggage only to reduce the faff and booked direct transfer

CalmShaker · 04/11/2025 21:10

What's stopping yourself from booking a fortnight? Treat yourself.

40andlovelife · 04/11/2025 21:11

Yes. I have done this several times to Teneriffe and really enjoyed it. Last time wegot 6:30am flights on a Tuesday so were by the pool early afternoon. We had pretty much all Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and then went home Friday morning. Back home early afternoon. All I would have been doing otherwise was working or having a few days off and not doing much so it was well worth it each time

Imperfectpolly · 04/11/2025 21:11

With decent flight times, I would if I could stay close to the airport - like pdc in lanzarote.

RandomMess · 04/11/2025 21:12

If local to airport in UK then absolutely. A bit of winter sun.

EngineerIngHappiness · 04/11/2025 21:12

I'm going for 5 nights in November. The flight out is extremely early. The flight back is extremely late. I live 10 mins from the airport. I chose a resort that's 30 minutes away by transfer from the airport. All inclusive.

I might consider 4 nights with the same criteria. I think I decided 5 wasn't much more expensive than 4 nights.

3 nights....depends what time of year. In the hot season possibly.

Edited to add hand luggage is a good shout. I did hand luggage only to Egypt last December for 5 nights.

Dr13Hadley · 04/11/2025 21:16

I went on my own to Lanzarote for 3 nights in April a couple of years ago. No kids, no husband, just me, my books and a sun lounger. It was bliss. Total recharge. 20-30 mins from the airport at each end. £500 for the lot (half board).

Cat1504 · 04/11/2025 21:17

No….wouldn’t fly than 2 hours max for 3 nights

Cherrypopping · 04/11/2025 21:33

It’s either just me or me and my 11 year old for a bit of sun
hand baggage only

Ihaveaskedyouthrice · 04/11/2025 21:38

I did earlier this year but 4 nights, would have no hesitation doing it again for 3 nights. I live very close to the airport which made it easy.

herbalteabag · 04/11/2025 21:40

Probably not 4/5 hours. It would be a lot of travelling unless you live near the airport and the hotel will be near the airport also. Would also depend how much of the travelling days you'd get in the destination? I often see 6am flights which I can rarely face but you'd arrive with most of the day free. And get a late flight home.

Other commitments but I could make it a six night trip for not much more

But I’m not sure I’ve got the ball to go alone
and if I take my kid only feel happy doing that for a couple of days

I know what you’ll all say go alone and I do want to
i just don’t know if ive got the balls

I did 4 nights. Hand luggage. Half hour from the airport this side and an hour the other. Late flight back so had that day as well. Flights both ways were delayed which was a bit of a pain. 3 nights would be borderline for me - possibly if the transfers either side were easy and flight times worked out both ways. But would rather go for 5/6 nights if I could.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 04/11/2025 23:43

No, go to Sicily instead

I'd look at Sicily as above for a shorter flight, but there is nothing hard about going to either place, you don't need balls - just book it and go - any anxiety will pass once you are there

Lifejigsaw · 06/11/2025 13:01

No, I honestly couldn’t justify flying for such a short time.
