Reduced leg of lamb in Tesco today for the bargain price of …£38.40. WTF? I don’t have anything more exciting to share!!

I did a £3.30 TooGoodToGo at Aldi once and got a leg of lamb. We're not a meat household so I gave it to my friend's dad, but it was a lovely surprise to get something like that for £3.30, and to treat someone who actually wanted it (we got some blue cheese too, which we did eat). But £38.40? Ffs.

Sadly supermarkets kept the cost of meat artificially low for years. They bullied farmers into taking the absolute bare minimum for their produce (see also milk, grains, vegetables etc).
The cost of living crisis has given supermarkets 'justification' to increase the price on staples such as meat and vegetables, guess what though? Farmers are not getting an equal increase for their goods.
The best thing to do is go and look at the prices in your local butcher. This is what well produced meat costs. Yes it is eye-watering but it is far better than cheaply reared meat.
I am guilty of buying supermarket meat, it's what I can afford to buy regularly but I am under no illusions that this is the best way to go about things.
We really need a national boycott of supermarket meat to re-set things.
