A bit of a childish one but bear with me!

A bit silly but I really want to watch a good horror film tonight for Halloween! I don’t get out much 🤣 as we have two under two so little things like this are exciting to me at the moment! Partner and I are ordering a takeaway and having a drink or two but he’s not much of a horror film fan and I really am, nothing old fashioned where graphics are rubbish, a newish one ideally and I like psychological horror films as well like Get Out, any recommendations please for any good new scary ones?

I would just go for the original classic Halloween. It was on BBC4 last night, so most likely now on iplayer.

I think basically all of them other than Apple TV! It’s a bit of a minefield when there are so many available so I always go with recommendations otherwise it’s just an endless rabbit hole 😂

There's a 'Fright Night' selection in the film area of BBC iPlayer with some good classics - Carrie, Halloween etc. Personally I am quite tempted by The Curse of the Cat People!

@tiptoeingthroughlife it bodes well for me that of the ones you’ve listed, I like every single one that I’ve seen! I’ve seen about half of them so I’ll look into the other ones, Exorcism of Emily Rose is one I remember hearing about when it came out but haven’t seen

I’ve seen that one quite a few times, brilliant film but I think I’m more after a new one. Definitely a classic for Halloween though!

Can I suggest Talk to Me? It's fantastic, great premise and quite gory at points.

PunksVersusBrats · 31/10/2025 13:40

Can't go wrong with 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' imo 😄🧟‍♀️

I’ve seen this and loved it! I remember saying it’s one of the best that I’ve seen in a long time! We may have similar taste so if you know any more like this please throw them my way 😀

Well the Conjuring 2 is my favourite movie ever (it reminds me so much of BBC Ghostwatch, remember that?)

I watched Bring her Back which is from the same director (producer) of Talk to Me, while not as good, it was still an original watch and very creepy as well.
