I've stopped HRT and feel much better for it...except

For sleep.

I'd been on it for c. 18 months. It did undoubtedly completely cut out the 4am wakings from day one.

However, I was horrible with the Progesterone. The "PMS" type symptoms were worse than my actual PMS ever was.

I switched from cyclical to continuous, but that just meant I was horrid all the time, rather than a few days a month.

So, I've stopped it all and feel much better in myself. E.g. yesterday someone did something that upset me. It would always have upset me, but until recently I'd have been in a proper red mist rage about it, lasting hours. Yesterday, I had a few tears and talked about what we could both do to prevent a repeat. It's how I'd have always liked to behave, but was simply physically impossible for me on the progesterone.

So I won't be going back on progesterone, but I am now waking at 4am everyday again. Sometimes (but not always) feeling like I'm burning up. Not sweaty particularly but very hot. I never 🤞 get hot flushes during the day.

Are there any alternative solutions for the sleep thing?.

I've been taking magnesium for the last few days and not noticed any improvement, but maybe it takes longer?

I was going to suggest magnesium! It probably does take a few days to build up. I have the magnesium lotion from Sweet Bee that you rub into your feet before bed. Works for me! (It's quite sticky so I do it actually sitting in bed and only use a tiny bit.)
