Anyone had issues with Paypal? They've closed my account!

I’m just a regular individual, not a business, with a very unexciting Paypal account.

I’ve had it for years with no drama but in early September my account stopped working properly (my Netflix subscription didn’t go through) so I queried it. Paypal said they had put ‘limitations’ on my account as they needed to see extra ID. Fair enough, although I was little surprised that they wanted this now, after a number of years of normal account operation. But I couldn’t work out what sort of ID they needed, and how to send it.

I used the online chat, it kept referring me to the Resolution Centre, but this wouldn’t tell me what they wanted, or how to send it. I kept ending up back in the online chat, and then back in a loop to the Resolution Centre. So I asked the online chat to escalate this, so it raised a complaint. This resulted in a link, allowing me in input my passport number. Sorted!!! Or so I thought. But this didn’t lift the limitation, I re-escalated things, and this morning got a message saying they had reviewed my ID, and as a result of this they cannot remove the limitations, and the matter is now closed.

I’m a British citizen, I don’t launder money and I don’t buy anything dodgy. And all my ID is real. I’m going to open a Google Pay account. But it’s the principle of this that drives me nuts!!!

Thank you for reading!!

That sounds so odd, is it definitely legit and the proper Paypal who are emailing you? I've never shown ID.

Yes, it's legit - when I first realised my Netflix payment hadn't gone through, I logged into my Paypal account, and that's where i got into this ridiculous loop between the 'help' chat and the Resolution Centre.
