I’m just a regular individual, not a business, with a very unexciting Paypal account.
I’ve had it for years with no drama but in early September my account stopped working properly (my Netflix subscription didn’t go through) so I queried it. Paypal said they had put ‘limitations’ on my account as they needed to see extra ID. Fair enough, although I was little surprised that they wanted this now, after a number of years of normal account operation. But I couldn’t work out what sort of ID they needed, and how to send it.
I used the online chat, it kept referring me to the Resolution Centre, but this wouldn’t tell me what they wanted, or how to send it. I kept ending up back in the online chat, and then back in a loop to the Resolution Centre. So I asked the online chat to escalate this, so it raised a complaint. This resulted in a link, allowing me in input my passport number. Sorted!!! Or so I thought. But this didn’t lift the limitation, I re-escalated things, and this morning got a message saying they had reviewed my ID, and as a result of this they cannot remove the limitations, and the matter is now closed.
I’m a British citizen, I don’t launder money and I don’t buy anything dodgy. And all my ID is real. I’m going to open a Google Pay account. But it’s the principle of this that drives me nuts!!!
