Anyone put Ugg slippers in the washing machine?

Stop me from putting new ones on my Christmas list! I’ve read some people have had success with boots, just wondering how much success people had with chestnut slippers? I know it needs to be a low temp/wool wash.

Oh no! I'm sure that could go disastrously wrong.

I would get a specialist cleaning product if it exists and use a damp cloth and or a soft brush. If you can't find a specialist cleaning product, use something gentle - perhaps Anway LOC? Baby shampoo?

I have and it was fairly successful, the only thing that happened which I didn't like so much was that the insoles which are glued in became unstuck so did move a bit, everything else was fine. These were Ugg Ansley slippers

You can get a cleaning product direct from Ugg (and possibly Schuh) which we use on mine and my daughter’s Uggs.

Mine were the slip on ones and it fucked them 😂

I have handwashed with gentle/wool soap, air dried then brushed with a dog fur brush 😂 and vacuumed inside to fluff them on on a subsequent pair and that worked great

Yeah I wrecked mine in the machine, these ones - https://www.ugg.com/uk/scuffette-ii-slipper/1106872.html?dwvar_1106872_color=CHE&_gl=1ad2u5u_upMQ.._gs*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjw04HIBhB8EiwA8jGNbdv-mz5wIfN9JgufgklReiHmc3n4wJ-nT8bPw8FAaHcZxYeNUNiogBoC-jgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&gbraid=0AAAAADsKOVWTIb5QruKke340urldvtPpt
Toddler spewed on them (norovirus) and then I got it too so couldn't be bothered trying to handwash/look for solutions. Put them in a delicates bag with loads of towels on a cool wool wash. The wool bit is fine but the suede completely dried out and cracked after it despite treating with a conditioner spray...still wear them but they look horrible now

TaupeRaven · 28/10/2025 11:37

I've always washed mine in the machine - for some reason I had it in my head that this was a feature of them... whoops!

To be fair, mine are these ones (which were chosen simply because they were in the sale and the others weren't), so I haven't had to worry about the upper being marked by water or detergent

Think of it this way, would you put a pair of suede shoes in the washing machine?

Although somebody on TikTok somewhere has probably done that🤣
If they're totally bogging, get a proper suede cleaner and brush for the uppers and use a damp cloth on the woolly bits or a steam cleaner if you have one.

I put suede trainers, sheepskin boots and sheepskin gloves in the washing machine.

The sheepskin items are fine once softened again from wearing.

The suede trainers are absolutely fine, no difference. I also machine wash leather trainers.

I do have an everhot so can dry them quickly overnight, a heated airer would do the same job.

Well I’m more of the mind I’ve got nothing to lose by trying…options are to clean or get new ones, so if I ruin them I will just default to plan B but am trying not to be wasteful! I just can’t be arsed to hand wash slippers! Ive tried before when spot cleaning them but it doesn’t come out even.
