"Dropping"oneself on to a chair or sofa rather than sitting down

My partner and son both do this , landing with a thump.
From my experience it seems to be a male thing.
It puzzles me , it looks uncomfortable and jarring.
Anyone else noticed this?

I probably still do this (f) IN MY OWN HOME. I'm much more careful in other people's homes. My Dad was always on about it when I was growing up, so I'm more aware of it at other peoples homes!

I throw myself into bed too 🤣 I just can't get comfortable sitting in the side & swinging my legs up. Again more gentle when room sharing & in hospital.

not uncomfortable or jarring or we wouldn't do it.

Also guilty in my own home! Not uncomfortable at all, the sofa is a nice soft landing

Sil does this. I find it very strange. Interesting it’s a thing.

It depends on to he seat, I mean I wouldn't try it on a hard wooden dining chair.

I find it lacking in respect for the furniture
