Unused fridge outside

I have recently got a new fridge so the old one is outside until I arrange disposal. Obviously it isn’t plugged in but would there be anything wrong in storing food in there in the run up to Christmas? Drinks I know will be fine - but in the week before what about cheeses/quiches etc? If it would be fine then I will hang onto it until after Christmas.

I would only use it for drinks or storage of any unperishables. Even if you added ice blocks to it, it won’t maintain a consistently cool enough temperature to guarantee safe storage of meat / cheese etc, so I wouldn’t risk it.

If it is unplugged and with the door closed, put a little dish of ground coffee (unused) on one of the shelves. It will stop it going mouldy, but be careful that any food is securely wrapped so it doesn't smell of coffee!

how does the coffee work please?

@MargoChanellingBarbara

I have no idea! We used to run a campsite which had a permanent safari tent on one of the pitches. There was a fridge in the tent and I used to leave it switched off and unplugged during the winter. The guys that serviced the tent every year told me to try the coffee thing and it worked! We also had other holiday lets and I used it for those as well when the houses were closed for the winter.
