Phantom of the opera /seen it and seats ?

I was wondering if anyone has seen it ? Is it any good ?
Also I'm struggling with seats. They are eye wateringly expensive and say some view cut off or poor leg room ..

It's one of my all time favourite musicals! Seat monkey is a good site for looking at reviews and seeing the physical view from a seat to see if it's acceptable to you or not

StarieNight · 26/10/2025 10:34

@Whytry thanks ,I've been looking at two seat sites have not heard of this one.

It’s amazing!

Coffeeishot · 26/10/2025 10:36

I love it it is very camp, I also used seat monkey , to look for seats for our budget.

Catpiece · 26/10/2025 10:40

Seen it three times. Do go if you can. It’s brilliant x

LIZS · 26/10/2025 10:59

Seatplan is another one

badstrict · 26/10/2025 11:01

I thought it was shite. A big disappointment after being a fan of the soundtrack for many years.

CheeseWineFigs · 26/10/2025 11:34

I saw it 20 years ago. Back then the cost of it was about the same as Les Mis which was orders of magnitude better. I thought Phantom was rubbish and vastly overpriced. I had restricted view seats that weren't sold as such. It's the worst musical that I've seen

StarieNight · 26/10/2025 11:56

Very strong feelings about it.
@CheeseWineFigs @badstrict are there any others you can recommend ?

Agree with some of the other posters - not in the same league as Les Mis. Love the songs but found it dragged on a bit.

LarryIsMyRomanEmpire · 26/10/2025 12:00

Seen it and loved it, Les Mis is better though but I'd already seen that a few times.

Coffeeishot · 26/10/2025 12:09

I agree Les Miserable is better than Phatom although I do love it,

Nitgel · 26/10/2025 12:14

I got a day ticket. I think it was about 20 but you have to get when released online at 10am. Was a fab seat in stalls.

rose69 · 26/10/2025 12:36

Same day ticket from the booth in Leicester square (now online as Tkts) Right at the front which was fab. We enjoyed it but didn’t feel the need to go back which I often do if a musical is good.

IsadoraQuagmire · 26/10/2025 13:12

He's called Theatre Monkey, not Seat Monkey. My favourite Phantom seat is in the middle of the front row because when the chandelier drops, it feels like it's going to land on your head😁

Coffeeishot · 26/10/2025 13:46

I wonder if those Seats are more expensive because of the experience?

Coffeeishot · 26/10/2025 13:47

Oh Theatre monkey 🐒 not seat 😀

My favourites have been Les Mis, Miss Siagon, Blood Brothers, Hamilton and Rent (the original version, although I doubt you can see either now). I would pay current London prices to see them all again.

I've seen Fidler on the roof, Evita, Starlight Express, Wicked, Clamity Jane, We will Rock you, Greese, Joseph, Jesus Christ Superstar, Avenue Q, Fame, Chicago, Sound of music and I thought they were good. But I wouldn't pay to see them a second time.

I'd like to see Billy Eliot and Hadestown

StarieNight · 26/10/2025 14:31

@rose69 how much did you pay pleaae

If you can- get a seat towards the front for the stalls for the chandelier drop but you do have to lean right back to see the phantom on the roof.

Folkwhore · 26/10/2025 14:41

I went yesterday. Sat in grand circle, row C, towards the middle is not restricted view and were £65 (although i had a voucher so they were even cheaper)
Great view of the chandelier.
Every musical has its pros and cons and are brilliant in their own right. I thought it was fabulous and the individual performances were absolutely out of this world - i don’t think there’s any other musical that demands that level of vocal skill (particularly the part of Christine)

Oh I agree, so pleased we got last minute tickets for a tenner as it was absolutely shite.

Dublassie · 26/10/2025 14:49

It’s amazing ! The one running now seems to be a newer version . Was just incredible and I’ve seen it many times . We had cheapie kids’ week seats - in the middle of the circle . And the view was great . Going to go again .
