I've just started to go to a new salon.
I'm seeing the owner.
I love how she cuts and colours my hair.
It's costing £108. My hair is very short think
around my ears. A bit longer than a pixie cut.

Would you tip or not.

I don’t, in a similar situation, because it’s quite expensive already and I sometimes buy a product. He has way more expensive clothes and handbags than me!

@Bluevelvetsofa she does wear a £4k bracelet. Van clef.

I used to have salon owner do my hair . Never tipped them they were richer than me. Used to rip the junior who washed my hair.

I pay £85 for a wash cut and blow dry (there are reasons for this, great cut, good time keeping etc). But no way am I tipping on top of that as well. My hairdresser has had better holidays than me this year...

Sunshineandrainbow · 25/10/2025 21:31

I give a tenner at xmas, nothing the rest of the year. Its £60 for a cut and blow dry. I have had to stretch how often I go due to price increase.

SunnySideDeepDown · 25/10/2025 21:35

No way. That’s a huge income, and unless you’re rich, that’s a heck of a lot to pay.

Do you get tips for working?

LesLavandes · 25/10/2025 21:35

I don’t tip the owner. He charges a lot

senua · 25/10/2025 21:42

I thought the norm was that you tip staff but not the owner.
The owner sets the price so what they charge is what they want. No need to give extra.
