Children’s TV show - so little to go on - does anyone remember this?

As the title says, I am trying to work out what this TV show was from my childhood. Very little to go on sorry.

It had real actors, mostly children I think, rather than a cartoon. It was set outside near a windmill I think? One of the scenes absolutely terrified me which is why it sticks in my mind, it involved creatures which were shut in a room (maybe a room in the windmill?), they looked like people dressed as mummies or scarecrows, definitely in sheets or bandages, they escaped from the room they were trapped in and walked along a bit like zombies would.

That’s all I have! Does it ring any bells for anyone?

Could it be Round the Twist?

123ZYX · 21/10/2025 19:51

Round the twist? That was always wierd.

Any idea of channel or decade?

Round the Twist was the first thing that came to my mind too.

ETA - just googled it and it was a lighthouse rather than windmill but still fits

It definitely sounds like something that could be from Round the Twist! 😆

Round the Twist.

Strange storylines, excellent theme tune.

Oh sorry decade would help, thought I had put it in. It was in the 80s. I will have a look at Round the Twist

Just adding to the chorus of Round The Twist.

Have you ever, ever felt like this...

Strange things happen when you’re going round the twist 🎶

KittyRannaldini · 21/10/2025 19:54

I think Round the Twist had ghosts in the attic.

DiscoBob · 21/10/2025 19:56

Wasn't it a lighthouse in RTT? Was it Australian?

switchoffplease · 21/10/2025 19:57

So the mummy/zombie figures were in a large group, I can remember them walking/staggering along in a field, it had an English countryside feel.

Not round the twist then which was Australian and late 90s

Bibbitybobbity70 · 21/10/2025 20:06

Wizardonabroom · 21/10/2025 20:06

Dramarama?

Ibetitwasaldi · 21/10/2025 20:09

Eerie Indiana?

MCF86 · 21/10/2025 20:11

I don't know the answer but the Round the Twist popped in my head earlier for the first time in ages (and the theme tune out of my mouth) when my son asked "mum, have you ever..?" as one of his bed time delaying tatctics about about 5 minutes before PPs started "singing" it here. I was ready to be a bit weirded out before it became clear it wasn't the right answer!

It's destined to stay stuck in my brain for days now.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 21/10/2025 20:13

A similar Reddit thread suggests Chocky's Children?

switchoffplease · 21/10/2025 20:13

I am wondering if it was Dramarama, it does seem to fit the description I have in my memory. Off to trawl through them and see if I can find the scary creatures! Thank you!

This might be a total miss but when round the twist was discounted (also my first thought!) I thought of grottbags & Emu, just googled it & there was an emu’s all live pink windmill show could it be that?

very random!!!

switchoffplease · 21/10/2025 20:17

Why were there so many terrifying children’s TV shows in the 80s? 😂

OP posts:
switchoffplease · 21/10/2025 20:17

No not Grotbags, this was more of a drama

Was it the programme about the sand creature thing?

can’t remember what it was called or what the creature was, but it was set on a beach with a windmill nearby, I think?

Was something like the sand gremlin?

although I think it was 90s as opposed to 80s.

PolkaDotPorridge · 21/10/2025 20:24

OP was it the ugly wugglies in The Enchanted Castle?
