Vinted - this feels like a scam but I can't work out how/why

Selling an excellent condition and good brand down filled puffer jacket that was bought for my teenage DS who doesn't wear puffer jackets so it's just gone unworn.

Within 10 mins of posting, I had 2 offers for the same amount (a weird odd number, like £37.84) from accounts with zero feedback/items for sale, both based in the same county of the UK. They then both sent me the same question within minutes (easily answered had they read the listing). I counter offered both and answered their question. One of them then bought it, but 2 hours later started messaging saying they thought they'd made a mistake and wanting more info. Something already felt off, so I just cancelled the sale and blocked them and the other account which I'm pretty sure was somehow connected to them.

Immediately reuploaded it, and have now already had a weird number offer from another account with zero feedback or followers also based in the same area.

It's making my spidey senses tingle and I'm almost certain they are going to be nightmare buyers so I'm not accepting the offer but anyone able to shed any light on what the scam might be, if I'm right and there's something scammy about it?

Vinted does the thing where it asks the buyer if they want to offer 5% / 10% /15% etc less than the asking price. Is the weirdly specific number related to this?

If it smells like a snake..

Just put you only sell to those with 5 ratings or more

That was my initial thought but it's not, it's just a seemingly random number. I wondered if it's an amount that makes sense in a different currency perhaps.

Are you allowed to refuse sales to buyers with less than a certain number of ratings? It feels tight because everyone was new once! But this definitely feels off somehow.

Just ignore the offer. What’s the problem?

Thanks for your advice.

I am ignoring the offer. However, I'm getting repeated offers from brand new zero feedback accounts, all based in the same small geographical area of the UK, all for the exact same amount. I keep ignoring them and they keep coming back with a new account. I've now had 3 more just this morning. Obviously I'm ignoring them all but I'm just curious as to what the deal is.

I sell a lot on Vinted and I've never ever had loads of offers for the same amount from brand new zero feedback accounts like this. Plus the fact that one of them actually bought it then changed their mind, so it doesn't even seem like they actually want it?

does sound odd

MagicalMystical · 21/10/2025 18:48

Yeah, sounds very strange but like you, I have no idea what the scam would be. I think you’re doing the right thing by blocking if it feels off.

ThatKhakiLeader · 21/10/2025 18:50

Ive seen things selling on vinted for these random prices. Always with pence. I avoid because in my mind its odd. I wouldnt upload anything to sell for £52.39.
So i completely agree if you think its weird it most likely is.

TheDenimPoet · 21/10/2025 20:09

I'd ignore all 0 feedback accounts regardless of any other suspicious things, so just wait it out for a member with feedback :).

Tiredofwhataboutery · 21/10/2025 20:16

Not sure what the scam is but this has inspired me to go check my buyer feedback.Only 19 reviews over three years. I must of bought hundreds of items!
