I think I’ve left the gluegun on and I’m 2 hours away!

Hi MN,
Am a highly anxious person, always thinking I’ve left the hair straighteners on…
This morning decided to repair a drawer and turned on the gluegun which is sitting on top of a plastic toolbox.
Forgot to repair the drawer, and me & my child are now on the train 2 hrs from home! Back tonight (going to a family party)
…nobody has a key to our home so can’t ask anyone to check.
Am googling how much of a fire hazard a glue gun is… has anyone ever done this?
Should I go back? So anxious 😫🫣

I would definitely go back. I don't know how much of a fire risk it is, but it will be a risk, even if it's a small one.

ProfessorInkling · 19/10/2025 11:34

I wouldn't be able to relax at all, can you ditch the party and turn back?

susiedaisy1912 · 19/10/2025 11:35

Go home

Emptinest · 19/10/2025 11:35

Even though thry can't get in is it somewhere that can be seen from a window?
Maybe so.eone could look for you.

LadyBrendaLast · 19/10/2025 11:36

Oh, poor you!

CalzoneOnLegs · 19/10/2025 11:37

Are you sure it doesn’t have a safety cut off

QuinoafromKew · 19/10/2025 11:37

Have you got a street WhatsApp group? Could someone look through the window and see?

I don't think looking at it is going to help..

If it's a decent brand it should regulate the heat and be OK, but there is always a risk

ToKittyornottoKitty · 19/10/2025 11:39

If you are certain it’s on I’d go home

whatcanthematterbe81 · 19/10/2025 13:30

Mine cuts off if left plugged in

It would help if they saw it was unplugged wouldn't it? She could forget about it then.

Oh no! I once had this happen me with my oven, we went for a weekend away and I remembered when I got there that my son asked for pizza for lunch. It ruined my whole weekend worrying and we have no family close by. Turns out I had actually turned it off. It’s the worst feeling

Arlanymor · 19/10/2025 20:12

They have a cut off don't they?

AmericaIsSoAwesome · 19/10/2025 20:18

I'm terrible for worrying about stuff like this. Hope this helps someone... I have a camera in the house (inexpensive from Argos) and I also take photos of things like the oven hobs, outside tap, thermostat etc. Just to reassure myself that nothing has been left switched on.

Hope it's sorted OP such a worrying feeling x

TheWelshposter · 19/10/2025 21:11

Hopefully you have sorted it now OP! Did you go back?
