Eating cereal for lunch cause it’s just bloody easy

Anyone else fed up making lunches or even thinking about what to have ? I’m not a great sandwich eater ( unless it’s from a nice sandwich shop may I add) we never have left overs from dinner and I can’t be arsed making a hot meal the night before to take to work for lunch the next day. So my solution is cereal! Game changer! No need to prep, just choose your cuisine of choice from the cereal cupboard fill a little milk jug and leg it out the door in the morning! So far this week I’ve gone all out, I’ve had frosted shredded. Mini weetabix, fruit and fibre, crunchy nut cornflakes.

im a better woman for it hahah

Yum!

It’s made my busy morning a little less stressful!

I could live on granola with yogurt over it.

DH makes a big pot of soup on Mondays. It lasts most of the week.

I’m amused you sound so excited. Have you never before eaten cereal for a meal other than breakfast?

Ghostellas · 17/10/2025 23:08

If I was running late I used to take one of those instant porridge pots to work for lunch

dogsandbudgey · 17/10/2025 23:08

@BuffetTheDietSlayer strangely I don’t eat breakfast so for me cereal hasn’t really been on the cards lol daft I know

Good idea actually. I don’t eat breakfast either but quite like cereal, good candidate for lunch

SchoolNightWine · 17/10/2025 23:56

Cereal or half a tin of rice pudding - favourite lunches for me!

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/10/2025 23:57

Depends on the cereal. Some are basically vessels for sugar.

Those are the best kinds of cereal.

I sometimes have cereal for my evening meal if DH is working and I'm home alone.

And, when I say cereal, we're talking Coco Pops not 'healthy' bran flakes 😳

(Edit to add, I never eat breakfast, never have even as a kid. I don't eat until lunch.)

Algen · 18/10/2025 00:43

I often have porridge for lunch if I’m working from home. Not sure I’d do other cereal as it feels wrong for some reason, although I’ll happily have cereal for an evening meal if I’ve had a big lunch and don’t really want anything to eat (I’m on medication that has to be taken in the evening with food, before anyone asks why I’m having an evening meal after a big lunch!)

coxesorangepippin · 18/10/2025 02:17

It is tough, I'll agree

I've been having fried egg and beans on toast

Does the job

Bjorkdidit · 18/10/2025 06:18

I don't eat cereal, but recently my go to emergency CBA lunch has been either a tin of rice pudding or carton of Longley Farm full fat cottage cheese.

More filling and nutritionally better (the cottage cheese at least) than many other easy ways of eating 3-400 calories - chocolate bars/cake etc, even sandwiches.

sorrynotathome · 18/10/2025 06:21

Breakfast cereal is truly the work of the devil. 🤮

pinkbackground · 18/10/2025 06:25

I often have cereal for lunch. I pop home in between jobs (self employed and go from customer to customer) so only have a short lunch and cereal just works.

Daisymay8 · 18/10/2025 06:28

It's vitamin-less carbs - add nuts, chopped nuts, coconut, - follow with an apple.
