Leeds Uni - experience of student /disability support services

Just wondering whether anyone here has any experience with the support worker service at Leeds Uni. My daughter has ASD and significant mental health problems, and has just started first year - living in student accommodation. She has been given DSA support towards a 1:1 study skills / mentor support worker. However the uni has so far been unable to assign anyone to her, which is difficult because she needs help as she adjusts. Being essentially 'on her own' has meant that she has gone from relatively stable mentally to really struggling with anxiety and severe low mood.

Any thoughts on how I might be able to move things forward at uni/ alternatives that might be available to her? She has good NHS mental health service support locally (at home, London) - the main issues are around navigating student life including settling academically...

I don't think it's unusual to not be able to find enough people to do these roles, I think they tend to be odd hours and poorly paid. It might be worth posting this on WIWIKAU (What I wish I knew about university) on facebook as they might be able to help.

I have one with ASD and I'd be considering moving her home and having her go to a closer uni that she can commute to tbh. 4/5hs is a long way away for someone with ASD and MH struggles.

Hope your daughter is now more settled. My daughter (AuDHD) is also at Leeds. She has 2 mentors but they weren't supplied by the university. The DSA report listed a company that we had to contact who then provided the mentors who give on-line support. We haven't heard anything from disability services at the uni - I hope you've had more luck.
