Genius ideas?: 4yo overnight, only have baby nappies

Looking for emergency good ideas of how to make a size 4 nappy work overnight for a 4yo who usually wears a size 8. For bedtime tonight!

We’re staying away from home and I forgot a night time nappy for DD1(4). She’s sometimes dry but she definitely needs a nappy. We’re far away from shops or anyone we can borrow from.

We have size 4 nappies for DD2(1). My best plan right now is to somehow stick one size 4 nappy into DD4’s knickers and hope for the best. Any better ideas? Help!

I’d do that, and also get her up for a dream wee when you go to bed

@welshweasel definitely this .. good luck OP

It's only 7pm are there no supermarkets nearby you can drive or walk to ? Or are you completely isolated

You could use two and have them kind of in her pants with one at the back making a sort of T shape with the two (if that makes any sense).
I know some people do it with sanitary towels when they have heavy periods.
She'll be laying down so needs the extra bit at the back.
Also put her to sleep on a towel which might help a little bit.

Put some towels under the sheet in case
Is there a waterproof mattress protection

I would lay 2 nappies flat and overlap them end to end , put the nappies on as normal but put a pair of pants over to keep them on .

A size 4 will probably be a better fit than you think- an average size 4YO is probably still within the weight range for size 5s so a 4 isn’t pushing it too much. And if she’s often dry then lifting her for a dream wee, whilst not something I’d make a nightly habit of, will probably do the trick tonight.

I’m more suprised you use size 8 nappies! Is that not a specialist thing? And how are they not massive given the age 4-7 ninjamas roughly correlate to a size 6 nappy?

W
Wake her for a dream wee at 10pm, towels, hope for the best.

Thanks all, some good ideas here. She’s usually in a size 8 pants from Lidl, but I go by what seems comfy not weight. She’s tall , in 5-6 clothes Shops would be more than an hour round trip. Have a waterproof mattress cover thankfully.

Mattress cover and a towel plus a wake up will be plenty. Please don't stress about it.

MoreThanRubies · 11/10/2025 20:20

@Hercisback1 will try not to stress. However, today I’ve had to deal with clearing up vomit, wee, poo, snot and blood, so I’m kind of over bodily fluids right now…
