How not to cry/ calm eyes

I received some bad news yesterday. I spent all of last night crying.

This morning my eyes are swollen and I can feel the tears right there, as if the slightest thing will set them off again.

I have an important meeting in 2 hours. Cancelling is not an option. Crying is definitely not an option.

Does anyone have any tips to 1. help deflate my eyes and 2. make the feeling of imminent tears go away?

Cold compress to the eyes to reduce swelling. Press your tongue to the top of your mouth to prevent tears.

I'm sorry for your bad news, I hope you find peace in time 🙏🏻

Cold cucumber slices or cold wet tea bags on your eyes.
If the meeting is with colleagues could you be honest and let them know in advance you’ve had bad news and may be wearing dark glasses and to please not refer to it. Plan B could be to say you have an eye infection and will be wearing dark glasses.
Sorry you’ve had bad news.
