Hello, I had a private echo last week and got my results back today to say they have found a moderate sized atrial septal defect. Well actually they said the full size couldn’t be determined on the echo but it’s at least a moderate size.
I am actually due to fly to lanzarote tomorrow. I am wondering if anyone has this condition and know whether it would be ok due to the pressure in the plane? I have googled it and spoke to the doctor who gave me my results and she said she isn’t sure because I will have had this all my life and gone on holidays before and been fine. However, as I am now experiencing symptoms she is not too sure and said I would need to see a cardiologist.
I have managed to book a consultation privately with a cardiologist tomorrow at 8am (flight is at 3:30) to try and get an answer as I’m desperate to go on holiday. But for now I am worrying a bit and wanting to speak to anyone who has the same or knows anyone with it and whether you’ve flown and been ok??
