Hiya. I'm two weeks in now, with no sign of it getting better. This is a particularly mean cold and pretty much everyone I know who's caught it has been polaxed. I've had fatigue as first symptom plus different stages of headaches, muscle aches, coughing, sore throat, sweating, nausea and snot.
I think it might be improving and then it gets worse again. We've tested for Covid (just in case) and if the tests work, it's not. Just want to know if you've had similar in the past few weeks (my commiserations) and when it went....

I have something similar right now. Not even paracetamol is helping! I’ve been down since Friday, hoping it’ll bugger off soon!

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 06/10/2025 15:23

For me it was 3 weeks. Just getting better now.

My DH is 3 weeks in, started with a head cold and a raging sore throat and then he started coughing. He felt very grotty for 2 weeks, had to go to the GP for a routine appt about something else and while he was there the GP prescribed him 5 days of antibiotics which he finished on Friday. He says he feels much better in himself, but the cough is still there. He isn't coughing every 5 minutes like he was, but when he does it's really deep and chesty. He's getting bored with it now.

Yes been really poorly with a horrible cold. Started with a sore throat so tested for Covid but that was negative so it must be a nasty vile cold that’s really thrown me and I’ve felt so ill. Snotty and swollen eyes and very very tired. Fed up of it now and it’s been a long week.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 06/10/2025 17:09

Yes, in bed with it now. Started with upset tummy, progressed to sore throat, relentless dry cough, tiredness and aches.
i tested negative for Covid. Lots of people off with it at work. We work in a hospital, apparently the standard Covid tests aren’t picking it up but a couple of people had a lab test and it was Covid positive.

I'm well into my 3rd week. Ended up with adult asthma following COVID a few years back and this has really triggered it along with headache , totally blocked nose, aches and fatigue. I've not been well enough to go to work which is hard because we're short staffed. I'm totally fed up with it now 😔

I work in a hospital too which is probably how I caught it

Been on and off with the same symptoms since end of August. Few days feeling better then floored again. On second lot of antibiotics since August ( first this year so not a common thing for me. Everyone I know is the same

About the 4th week, come down with suspicious shingles like rash that I need to get checked tomorrow. I have felt virusy for weeks though. Totally fed up of it!

GinJeanie · 06/10/2025 18:34

Sorry to hear so many folk have got it... I keep expecting to start to feel better and it just isn't happening. So frustrating!

The past 6 weeks have been awful, I've honestly never had an end to summer like it. We've had 2 viruses in the house, neither of which was covid, both of which felt awful. We're involved in a hobby and both illnesses made their way round the members like wildfire, and in fact the last few people to get them are still unwell now. I'm still coughing a little, but thank goodness I feel better than I did last week.

There definitely seems to be something weird going on this year, though I don't know why that would be the case.

the80sweregreat · 06/10/2025 18:41

Been poorly with a virus , now my voice seems to have gone too! Wish everybody better on here .

PistachioTiramisu · 06/10/2025 18:58

I had Covid in July - felt very unwell for a couple of weeks - it cleared up, but I still have an awful cough first thing in the morning. DH has just come home with yet another cold which I hope isn't the one you are all describing. It's been one thing after another this year and I am fed up with it!
