Long story short is I got an ear infection on holiday 2 ish weeks ago hotel doctors gave me antibiotics all seemed ok. When I came home and finished the antibiotics my ear still wasn’t right so I went back to my gp who gave me some antibiotic ear drops. 2 days later my ear started bleeding so I went back to the gp who said I had a cut in my ear and to just carry on my with antibiotics. Around another 2 days later my ear was in agony one night I woke up crying I then spent all night trying different pain meds until I relented and took some morphine that I’ve been given but don’t really use for another condition. The morphine helped enough to stop me crying. I went back to the gp who gave me stronger antibiotics but it’s been 3 days and no improvement on The pain since has just got so much worse I just want to cry all the time I can’t even touch my ear with out searing pain. Doctors keep telling me my ear is ok just has an infection. I’m not sleeping well I’m exhausted I have a baby I can’t carry on like this.

Go to A&E - if you’re in that much pain it needs further investigation. Sorry OP sounds awful!

NessShaness · 04/10/2025 08:10

I think it might be time for a trip to A&E x

A and E for this level of pain. Go now (quiet time), take phone charger, book/kindle, snacks and wear comfy clothes.

Cut in the ear? Sounds more like a perforated ear drum. Hope you get something to help asap.

KurtansFringe · 04/10/2025 09:00

Yes definitely get seen. That's not a cut in the ear

worriesaway · 04/10/2025 19:03

Saw out of hours doctor she said she thinks my ear drum had burst and that’s why it was bleeding she’s given me an ear appointment with specialist on Monday more pain killers and lots of sympathy which was great after being told all week to just carry on with antibiotics

Im amazed that a gp could missed a burst ear drum. Hope you get it sorted soon because they are agony. Hopefully it will be a small perforation as they can self heal after time.

FabulousPharmacyst · 04/10/2025 20:27

GP or PA?

worriesaway · 04/10/2025 20:31

I don’t no how either I’ve seen 3 different doctors but things have been sorted hopefully for now gp also actually told me to rest as much as I can which is hard with a baby but I needed to hear it as this week has been full of stress with the ear ache on top
