Taylor Swift - am I too late?

I am a 64 year old very much non-Swiftie. I might be able to name a couple of her songs but certainly not sing them. But I have a wide taste in music and am up for a new experience. Is The Life of a Showgirl for me?

There isn't an upper age limit to be a Swiftie. She writes fantastic songs.
I've not listened to TLOAS yet actually, saving it for a run tomorrow.

Honestly give it a listen. I like her music and the new album is great just as good as her other stuff, more ‘pop’ than some of her recent stuff.

SparklyCardigan · 03/10/2025 17:18

It's not her best album in my very humble opinion. Maybe start with the Eras Tour playlist (on Spotify) as that covers key songs from all the previous albums.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/10/2025 17:20

I would start with 1989 personally

Im 66 and listen to her

Never too late. But Showgirl is not up there with her best.

I would start with Folklore, Midnights (the 3am edition as the extra tracks are well worth having), Reputation and 1989.

Great suggestion from @SparklyCardigan re the Eras Toir. If you’ve got Disney+ you can watch it and see which songs you like, there are a few from each of her albums included.

I’d second listening to the Eras playlist first. Kind of like a greatest hits.

SteaknSalad · 03/10/2025 17:45

I think people of any age can enjoy her music! I’ve been listening since I was 14, I’m in my early 30s now.

If you usually listen to pop music, the best album to start with is 1989. It’s one of the best pop records of all time.

If you’re more into folk music & acoustic music, give the album Folklore a go. It has gorgeous songwriting on it.

If country is more your thing, then the album Fearless is a good introduction.

Enjoy!

Her music is quite bland but catchy. If that’s what you like, may be for you, certainly no age limit!

Screamingabdabz · 25/10/2025 20:50

I’m an older swiftie and I love Showgirl. I’d just download her best hits and start from there.

Loasg isn't her best work imo.
I would recommend starting with Folklore and Evermore for her brilliant lyrics.
1989 is pure, superb pop, as is Lover.
Midnights has some excellent songs too.

I like the anger and angst of the tortured poets society.
