How much do you think you’ve spent on Robux?

Obviously this is only applicable to some people! But for those who’s DC have Roblox, how much do you think you’ve spent on Robux? I think I’ve spent £60 per DC so far so that’s £120 but they both want a £50 gift voucher for Christmas 😬 how much have you spent?

Zero. My DC are not permitted on Robolox. Too high a risk in terms of child protection.

elliejjtiny · 01/10/2025 08:54

None. My older dc are allowed to use roblox but my 11 year old isn't. But none of them have ever had robux or been allowed to make in game purchases. It just seems like a massive waste of money to me and also kind of cheating to pay money to get ahead in a game.

Catsknowbest · 01/10/2025 08:55

My friend said it causes the majority of issues, arguments and stress in the house with her 2 boys.

None. DS was allowed to play Roblox but not allowed any add ons.

Lego on the other hand....thousands. 😁 Now I need to find someone who wants it.

ThisCharmingMum · 01/10/2025 08:58

Nothing here as well. It’s a golden rule that I will never pay for any in game purchases. The kids have paid themselves once or twice but soon stopped when their cash was running out.

I vividly described how there would be a CEO somewhere rubbing hands with glee every time a kid made in game purchases because he was getting richer while the child/child’s parent was getting poorer 😂

pokewoman · 01/10/2025 09:07

Zero

My children play it, but I won't waste money in it

DingDongJingle · 01/10/2025 09:08

Mine play Roblox but I’ve never bought Robux. Money down the drain!

mindutopia · 01/10/2025 09:35

None. My dc (12) sometimes is allowed to play it. It’s a bit of a paedophiles paradise, like Snapchat, so she has access to it only in very monitored, measured doses. Absolutely have never spent money on any app or game ever though.

Lol bit dramatic.

Newyearnewmewoooop · 01/10/2025 09:38

Hundreds 😬 I have 3 but over the last couple of years it’s been a lot!

Leftleg · 01/10/2025 09:43

I use Google rewards points by answering surveys and uploading receipts to pay for robux so don't spend much of my money on them. Sometimes they will use pocket money for it too.

Not if you close down all communication channels on there.

BoatsAndHoes · 01/10/2025 10:02

My DS has £4.99 worth of Robux a month that he pays for out of his pocket money - I loathe him spending it but it's his money to do what he wishes with, and he enjoys playing Roblox so 🤷🏻‍♀️

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 01/10/2025 10:03

They play it and know I will never buy Robux as I think it’s a MASSIVE waste of money.

Amber800 · 01/10/2025 10:06

About £50 total over the last 18 months. I only buy £10 at once which she burns through. If she had £50 at once I’m sure it would be used up just as quickly. Better to give 5 x £10 over a longer period.

Hols23 · 01/10/2025 10:11

My kids love Roblox and I have no problem with it. I've never spent a penny on Robux though, but one of them once got a Robux voucher from a friend as a birthday present.

IfHeWantedToHeWould · 01/10/2025 11:41

My DC don’t get pocket money so I do spend the odd fiver on Robux or money for Fortnite. They also get given Robux vouchers from
friends for birthdays.

Natsku · 01/10/2025 11:48

I refuse to spend money on games like that, and DS knows that if he asks he won't be allowed to play any more (warning first to be fair, then if he keeps asking he gets banned)

JellyRains · 01/10/2025 11:51

Probably hundreds over the last 5 years, that and Fortnite, thankfully he's outgrown them now and plays games with no buy ins. I don't feel bad about it, he's autistic and it was his favourite thing for a long time.

klim · 01/10/2025 12:07

None, we didn't let them spend real money on anything in-game.

But like @JellyRains I have autistic DC, and I am quite sure I've spent more than you'd think is reasonable on some other things to keep them engaged.

arcticpandas · 01/10/2025 12:23

Hundreds for DS2 (12) (bday, christmas etc). For those talking about paedophiles, he plays with his classmates- they are on group WhatsApp call and talk while they play. This is what's redeeming about Roblox, it's got this social component to it. It actually helped him integrate when he changed secondary school. And it's quite "innocent". Rather them gaming in group than watching stupid tiktok videos or using social media (mine are not allowed sm) by themselves.

That’s such a useful post. And it’s Roblox.

FightingInAVatOfJellyBabies · 01/10/2025 17:56

I hate it when adults decide what is a waste of money.

Not roadblox but Fortnite - over the years we spent hundreds, for Christmas they wanted vouchers to buy skins - to me it was a waste of money, to them it was enjoyment.

I waste money on wine, on perennial plants, on expensive perfume - none of that lasts either.

Computers and gaming can be perfectly healthy part of life, despite what is written in MN.

DingDongJingle · 01/10/2025 18:49

Surely adults are allowed to decide what’s a waste of money when it’s their money? I wouldn’t tell my children what they can spend their own money on, but I can decide what to spend my own on.

Agree. We all get to choose how we 'waste' our money aka spend it on enjoyment.
