Quick tax free childcare question

Hi All,

Trying to help a friend and we can’t work this out. Friend has a 2.5 year old boy who attends nursery four days a week during term time. The other day a week/school holidays are currently covered by her/her husband/their families.

He attends nursery for 10 hours a day/40 hours per week. Friend gets 30 hours funded so pays for the additional day plus £14 for meals on the 3 funded days.

Can she keep these funded hours plus get tax free childcare to use to pay the extra day, or is it one or the other?

If she can have both, then if she has tax free childcare money remaining after paying the extra day can she use this on the £14 meal charge?

Also just realised I used the word quick in my title then wrote a long post! Hopefully is just a quick question and me/friend are missing the obvious.

Yes you can use both

Yes to everything if they meet the criteria for tax-free childcare.
She should have enough allowance to pay for everything using Tax Free childcare, unless the nursery is insanely expensive.

Lots of additional info in that post thay was not needed.

Can you use Tax free childcare alongside funded hours?

Answer yes. And indeed the government website tells you this and all the info you need.

Thanks all, we were struggling to get our heads round it Blush
