Sex v relationships at Uni - first year

I’ve noticed at Uni re: young women that some are sought out for relationships & highly valued & others seem to be effectively used for sex (fine if sex all you want but what if it’s not?) which can have obvs negative/dangerous consequences. Some seem to be very sheltered & naive on all this.

In a social media world a ‘mistake’ on freshers week can lead to a viral TikTok etc. For young men too & lasting unpleasant nicknames & damaging reputations especially for young women.

What can we as parents do to help? I know young adults now.

If you want casual sex, fine, but I see that some young women can’t find the relationships they hope for during their Uni years & don’t have the choice or chances they’d like. Others do.

Generally the better looking you are the more interest & choice you have. Has always been the way but lookist insta culture not helping & more dangerous is the pervasive social media means early poor decisions etc are sometimes pervasive & permanent.

How do you know so much about uni students love and sex lives?

What makes you think all young women at uni are after a relationship. I know I wasn't, I just wanted a good time.

One doesn't preclude the other!
