Recurring Hand Foot and Mouth

My 20 month old has just come down with his third case of hand foot and mouth in 11 months. I have a 4 year old and I’d never even heard of this until the little one got it at the end of last year but it seems to be something that he is really prone to.

I’m just wondering if anyone has experienced this happening quite often and if there is anything I can do to help him build up a better immunity to it. Me and my 4 year old caught it off him the first time but have managed to avoid it ever since which makes me think we are better able to fight it than he is.

Is this just down to his age or am I forever destined to have to deal with this awful illness with him? I feel so sorry for the poor thing!

Hi there, we had an awful time with my oldest child and repeated bouts from about 2-4. My younger child has had it once, very mildly. It seems to be random, I also had it a few times and was quite unwell for about 36hrs. Not much advice apart from hang in there as it does seem to pass!
