Under 12s in front car seat

Our neighbour told my partner yesterday that it’s illegal for under 12s to be in the front seat of the car, even with a car seat. I cannot find anything online other than recommendations but wondered if the power of MN knew if this was true?

Not illegal no, would need car seat if still legally required and for air bag to be deactivated if rear facing car seat for little ones. Safest place is back seat though if there was a crash.

No, providing they use a booster if under 135cm tall (and wear a seat belt, obviously). Or are in a car seat if very small with airbag deactivated. https://www.gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules

It’s not illegal in the UK but it is in some other countries.
