How do you deal with you family’s outdated views?

So I know most people will tell me just to ignore them but I’m really getting annoyed at what I’m dealing with. I have never thought me and DH have had an equal share in the housework/mental load/general life stuff….I have dealt with the most of it, especially since we have had 2 kids, and he has been good at DIY (which I am not) so we’ve sort of muddled along like that for a good few years.

I came home today after a full day at work, made dinner for us all, checked 2 sets of homework, washed lunch boxes for tomorrow, checked who needs packed lunch tomorrow, put a wash on, checked that we had enough food for lunches tomorrow, put the dry washing away, emptied the dishwasher, filled the recycling boxes for collection tomorrow, took the recycling boxes to the bottom of the lane for collection tomorrow, and I am getting grief from a family member asking why I’m not looking after DH! I’m so angry with it all!

Time for a sit down with your DH. He can sort kids lunches, empty the dishwasher, and do the recycling.

And put a wash on. You are not on this earth to serve him.

Tell them it's because you have two children, not three and your DH is a functioning adult who is perfectly capable of looking after himself! Better still, get your DH to tell them - that should put a potato in their exhaust!
