Has the landlord moved us into a damp kitchen?

We just moved in a week ago and noticed there is a musty smell in the kitchen, particularly the cupboards. We assumed they just hadn’t been wiped down for a long time, so bleached them but the smell persisted.

One of the cupboards has the back ripped out and the (external) wall behind looks dirty/mouldy/damp. We have tried to be positive about it and assume just dirt and asked the agent to get someone to take a look, which is bring scheduled.

However I’m now worried given this persistent smell that it’s damp in the walls and the landlord might end up having to rip out the kitchen if a contractor discovers it.

I have attached photos.
