Don’t know if it’s me or not, I went on a first date today only a coffee, and he wore a baseball cap the entire time, would this put you off? I thought he might have took it off.

Thing is the date went really well, he was polite and we have a lot in common, if I see him again I might ask him if he always wears it 😂

I hope he dumps you for being a judgemental, stuck-up fool and finds someone able to look past the superficial.

I have a couple of balding friends who do this.

Personally I'd rather see a bald head than a cap!

I wouldn't like that - no cap, fam

Aka Brookyln Beckham?

He didn’t wear it back to front 😀

He's hiding thinning hair or baldness.

I am far from stuck up thanks

He didn’t wear it back to front 😀

In that case give him one more chance!

BettyBobble · 20/09/2025 19:07

He has pattern baldness is my guess

Why are some posters concerned with whether or not it's a first date or not?
You mean it's okay after the first date?
Poor guy, to be judged for wearing a hat on a first date.
I would suggest not seeing him again if it bothers you that much but now you say he's a very nice polite guy and you got on together.
Well if you get along that well yeah, if it bothers you so that much, ask him why he wears a hat all the time.
If I were on a date and somebody asked me, for example, why I wore a long sleeved top for the second time meeting, i would take that as a criticism infringing on my personal right to wear what I choose and was comfortable in.

This is a weird and very angry assumption to make. No wonder half of mumsnet is angry and single

imagine the outrage if a man told a woman how to dress

Not single at all, I have been long term married to a man that knows his manners and dresses appropriately.

I would be embarrassed for him, much prefer when men embrace their baldness, looks much better.

First dates are about assessing your compatibility.

I would not feel compatibitily with an adult man wearing a baseball cap. Unless he was a professional sport person. Or a celebrity hiding from the press with accompanying dark sunglasses.
