Are you finding the new site slow to load?

I’m really struggling with loading speed, I’m not sure if the ads are slowing it down.

I'm finding it almost unuseable. Pages totally freezing. And it's tough on the eyes.

Chickslicky · 20/09/2025 08:13

Im getting light grey rectangles partially blocking the screen and freezing the pages. I thought it was my chrome browser on my android phone but maybe it is the site.

Bluevelvetsofa · 20/09/2025 08:54

I just find it really unpleasant to try to read.

Nocookiesforme · 20/09/2025 09:13

Yes, me too. It's like the ads are being given loading priority before threads. MN will give the usual advice of clear cache etc but mine auto clears everything on shut down so it's nothing like that but it's ok....all the new pretty insipid colours will divert us from the slow load right Hmm

Chemenger · 20/09/2025 09:20

Yes, frequently the whole page freezes when it can’t load an advert.

ScoobyBooby · 20/09/2025 09:23

There’s no need for the massive advertisements between posts .

Randomrover · 20/09/2025 13:16

Yes, as stated in all the above. I've tried across 4 of 6 browsers I have installed.. this is so frustrating I have to quit my session here before this properly changes my day for the worse.
And thank you for starting this thread, I will stop cursing my laptop and planning its destruction knowing this is not a local issue.

Star458 · 20/09/2025 15:36

No the absolute opposite. I was having a terrible time with it, it was almost unusable but now it's back to working well. It did this before though and then gradually got worse and worse so who knows. I think they put way too much advertising on and it slows the whole thing down horribly.

Tutorpuzzle · 20/09/2025 19:22

Yes, the constant reloading of pages (using an iPad) and pop up ads are making it not fun at all. I’m a bit confused as to why such a hugely used site has to rely on millions of low quality ads, rather than more higher paying/higher profile advertisers. Maybe some new people in the marketing dept needed?

And the new colours remind me of all the acid shades of late eighties fashion. Bit painful really.

It’s taken me 10 minutes to write this as screen keeps freezing!

PhilMitchellsleatherbomber · 20/09/2025 19:27

Yes, the constant reloading of pages (using an iPad)

This has been going on for months, there have been threads on it and Mumsnet never get it sorted, in fact it’s always “our” problem 🙄, my pages crash and reload on average every five minutes, this is particularly frustrating when I have just typed a post and then it’s lost because it’s crashed and to add insult to injury it reloads at the top or the previous page, it’s maddening.

Genehuntsfanclub · 20/09/2025 19:37

I agree with comments about the new colour, very harsh on the eyes. Also finding that when reading threads on "Active" the page doesn't return back to the the same place on the menu. Very frustrating having to keep scrolling back. Now where are my sunglasses...

CoconutQueen · 20/10/2025 15:01

Constantly freezing. Doesn't happen on websites of any other organisations. So yes It's a Mumsnet problem, not our own systems.

Actually can't bear browsing on here any more...think I'm leaving after 25 years...

MuttsNutts · 20/10/2025 15:05

Yes, pages taking ages to load, freezing, crashing all the time. Doesn’t happen on any other sites, only Mumsnet. I use it until I get sick (which isn’t long nowadays, my patience has worn thin) then give up and go elsewhere.

And when a page crashes, it doesn’t even reload to the point you were at so you’d have to start scrolling to find your place.

It’s rubbish.

It drains my iPhone battery
