Just been referred via right to choose for an ADHD assessment at the age of 51. My career is in tatters, my house is a mess! What can I do in the meantime to help me get back on track - advice/ tips please.

Hi. I've was diagnosed at age 47. I was lucky as went private so the time between referral and diagnosis was very short but on the nhs it can take years.

I'm on medication and can honestly say it's been the best thing. I'd had years (since 2002) of multiple wrong diagnosis, medications and feeling I was the problem.

I found lists very helpful (provided I didn't lose them) and doing things in small chunks so boredom didn't set in.

This all charged the moment I got medication as now organised, motivated and less chaotic. I've never had a career as would change jobs frequently because I struggled with management and would get very depressed and stressed. My CV is very long 😂.
If you can afford to go private I would recommend it unless you know waiting times in your area are short.
