Never been and taking the train for the weekend with my 8 year old son. Looking for recommendations for activities, museums and food (burger, pizza) spots

National Football Museum is fab if you like that sort of thing!

Manchester Museum on Oxford Road (by the university and I think the students are returning from this weekend though so may be busy in the area)
museum of science and industry
immersive gamebox or kingpins in the arndale
man utd/Man City stadium tours and museums (and as PP said, the national football museum)
zip world/high nets at Heaton Park
karting at Teamsport under the AO arena (I think 8 is the min age)

Pizza - Rudys, double zero or noi Quattro are the best

Mine used to like the Science and Industry Museum (Power Up, on at the weekends during termtime might appeal...?) and then Mowgli.

Is the Operation Ouch exhibition still open at the Museum of Science and Industry? My nine-year-old loved it - and she got to meet Dr Xand. The Cat which Slept for a Thousand Years at Manchester Museum. Echo the vote for Rudy’s Pizza, especially the one on Peter Street.

Mayfield park for a run around if the weather is good.

Imperial war museum, a trip on a tram, a walk around Salfod docks, pop into the Lowry to see a few iconic pictures.
China town and the gate.

There is enough to keep you busy for a year!!
