Moving house this week. My DH thinks we should leave behind our shower curtain rail (only the rail, not the actual curtain) for the new owner to be helpful. I think he will think its minging and be annoyed at us leaving it behind. Who's right?

Of course you should leave the rail. How can the new owner shower for the first few days if there's no rail to hang a shower curtain from. How is a shower rail 'minging'? You just give it a quick clean and it's no different from any other fixture and fitting.

Mine is a bit rusty and I haven't changed it yet. I'd probably buy a new rail and curtain and install before I left!

Leave it. It’s a fixture and it will be expected you leave it. They can replace it at a later date if it’s not to their taste.

I've bought 3 properties and in each one the sellers left the shower curtain and rail. Sold 2 properties and left shower curtain and rail.

I can't tell you how annoying it would have been to spend a hot sweaty day moving in and find i can't have a shower without buying and fitting a rail or soaking the floor. If buyer wants to replace that stuff he can but I doubt he'll be renovating on day 1.

Are you the type that also takes all of the bulbs from light fixtures too????

No we don't need it where we are going, i just assumed he wouldn't want it. It's not actually minging, just used . I think im being too uptight and stand corrected...Will leave it behind. My husband will be delighted to be proven right!

Yeah DH was correct.

ivdint understand your thinking? You're leaving behind the basin & the toilet just because the shower rail is more easily removed, why would you?

same with the curtain. Unless someone particularly lived theirs why would you take if?

I’d leave it. When I moved into my last house I knew I’d be replacing the bathroom suite but still needed a bath after a day of rushing around. I finished all the basics - kitchen stuff, getting my bed made etc. - and went to run a bath. It was about quarter to nine. The previous owners had TAKEN THE BATH PLUG!!!!!! I have never driven as fast as I did that night getting to B&Q before closing!!!!

So even if they only keep it short term, I don’t think your buyers will find this minging.
