Is the Asda Rewards card just pointless these days then?

I do a regular shop in store and online and I haven’t earned anything since May. It used to be really good especially as a blue light member, but those days are long gone with spending goals, star products and so on. Also games where you could tap to reveal after a shop.

Now, nothing, nada, zilch. Shall I delete the app?

Yep it's pure shit since they stopped blue light perk.

Ineffable23 · 15/09/2025 21:46

I thought this was just me, but yes I haven't had much recently either, and I'm a fairly regular customer.

MyAcornWood · 15/09/2025 21:47

Yea it is absolutely pointless now. Maybe a few pence here and there for spending large amounts, but it’s not remotely worth it.

That’s odd cos I went through a phase of getting next to nothing but in the last month or so mine has gotten better. The last few times I’ve been I’ve got about £3/4back on a £100 shop.

TokyoSushi · 15/09/2025 21:50

They must have realised it wasn’t quite right at you used to get ££££ for spending not very much, it was brilliant, but probably not sustainable for them.

Its gone way to far the other way now though 😒

mylovedoesitgood · 15/09/2025 21:50

Yes it’s pointless now. Also a Blue Card holder and I deleted the app a few months ago for the same reasons you say. They’ve been struggling and I guess crunched the numbers and realised they were losing out on profits with the incentives and points.

ScepticPeg · 15/09/2025 21:51

It's rubbish like all the others you have to spend about a million to get one pound. Was good for about a year and then they stopped and changed it.

Arewethebadguys · 15/09/2025 21:52

Absolute rubbish now

whatwasthatnoise · 15/09/2025 21:54

There's a new executive chairman in post and he's focusing on bringing the Roll Back prices back. I thought I'd read somewhere that he doing it to the detriment of the Rewards app, but I can't find that article now.
I shop there occasionally, I used to get the odd tenner saved up in my pot but now it's just pennies. I definitely miss the blue light bonus.

Kneeslikethese · 15/09/2025 21:56

Same (blue light card one) not earned a single penny since they stopped the blue light perk despite having spent money regularly.

WibbleyPie · 15/09/2025 21:58

I only joined it last year in September and had about £25 by Christmas, I've been using it all year and I've got a grand total of £9.
I thought it was maybe because of the opening offers etc when I joined and that there's only 2 of us, but tbh there's an Aldi across the way and I used Asda because of the points and saving them for Christmas, there's little point now, I may as well go to Aldi because it's cheaper and just as convenient.
I get it though, times are tough for everyone and it must have been unsustainable, but it does seem pretty pointless to scan it every time when you're not getting anything from it really.

TheGetAlongGang · 15/09/2025 21:59

I stopped going to Asda when id saved up about £30 on the app and went to check one day and it had vanished

I contacted them and they said I had to use them within 6 months or lose them

I didn't know this and was saving them for my christmas shop

I've not stepped foot in an Asda since

It is in the small print but they could have made it clearer

Adsa has really gone downhill since those brothers took it over (I haven't a clue if they still own it)

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 15/09/2025 21:59

Totally agree. By this time last year I had about £30 built up in my Christmas saver, this year I have about £12. And given that my food shops are about 50% more expensive than they were last year its a bloody joke.

I will be going back to Tesco at this rate

whiteplaques · 15/09/2025 22:02

When it first came out, I loved it. From about September onwards I saved up and for two Christmasses running I had about £70 off the Christmas shop. There were win to spin promotions, the lot. And then it just stopped.

People were complaining on X and Asda never even replied. When a big Sainsbury’s opened near us, I just deleted the Asda app, stopped shopping there and got Nectar instead. I did actually email Asda and asked what happened but they didn’t reply to that either.

BartokRules · 16/09/2025 06:27

I’ve gone back to Tesco - the clubcard point system is great

Kpo58 · 16/09/2025 07:27

I thought that the ASDA reward app only exists so that you can use the scanner whilst shopping to make check out quicker.

cannyvalley · 16/09/2025 08:05

Oh man, I miss the bluelight perk at Asda! I deleted it as it seems pointless these days. I can’t be bothered to scan every time and try to shop there more just to earn pennies…

EmiliaRuusuvuori · 16/09/2025 08:15

I've switched to Morrisons now, their reward scheme is much better. I've got £140 saved for Christmas. You can earn up to £20 a month by buying things you would normally buy.

Iocainepowder · 16/09/2025 08:17

Oh i was wondering why there was now bugger all reward on my app! Thanks, i’ll delete it.

purpleme12 · 16/09/2025 08:20

The only good rewards card/app thing that's worth it if you ask me is for Claire's or Greggs.
Although Claire's have stopped that now

I only use the Sainsbury's and Tesco ones to get the products cheaper when I'm buying them

SoMentallyDrained · 16/09/2025 08:21

It seems pointless having the Christmas savings pot on the rewards app because you can't earn anything to put in there. I currently have £5 towards Christmas, last year I bought the turkey with the points

Suziestewpot · 17/09/2025 15:08

I agree the app is not worth keeping, my pot hasn

PearlsPearl · 17/09/2025 16:33

I thought it was just me. Been nothing at all for months. Kept meaning to google it! Now I know.

Rescher · 26/11/2025 21:27

Prices in Asda generally competitive but rewards scheme is a waste of time. No point to it they should just knock it on the head. It's annoying so I major my main shopping at Aldi Lidl and Tesco. Forget Asda it's going down the tubes,!!
