Hi, if you had left an important item 100 miles away, how would you go about getting it back as quick as possible? Same day courier? Taxi? Struggling to work out what to do.

Drive there myself to get it.

Do you really not know what to do?

I'd probably go back and get it myself, provided there wasn't an expensive flight or ferry involved.

Drive. It's not really a long way. I go further for fortnightly hospital appts .

I would drive back to fetch it.

Pay for Royal Mail postage online, schedule collection and for the postie collecting to bring the label. Special Delivery insures up to quite a high amount. If you've left it at accommodation, contact the hotel/managing agent or owner and ask them to please package it up, for payment of course. Or arrange DHL or UPS to collect providing the label can be printed for you where it needs collecting from.

I've done both of these at work when people have left expensive items behind. I also left a pair of sentimentally valuable earrings in a holiday cottage in the US myself. The manager very kindly packaged them up and sent them to me via the postal system and I transferred her the money.

I'd assume driving isn't an option, as urm the OP didn't list it as an option?

I'd try same day courier.

Thank you all. Yes clearly driving would be the best and obvious option. Perhaps I should have been clear that that is not. So I was wondering if there was a way I had not considered or if, perhaps, someone might have found taxi was more efficient than same day courier. Or some creative way!
