dementedpixie · 10/09/2025 16:55

Somewhere between 11pm and midnight on a Friday as bin day is Saturday

Nourishinghandcream · 10/09/2025 16:56

The night before.

Bins are collected at different times so better safe than sorry.
Food waste before 7am.
Garden waste before 8am.
Recycling & general waste around 4pm.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 10/09/2025 17:03

Non-recyclable rubbish bin goes out on Sunday evening (Monday is bin day). Recycling boxes (boxes with no lids) go out about 6 am on collection day so it doesn't get rummaged through by foxes or blown all over the road, along with food waste bin.

K0OLA1D · 10/09/2025 17:05

BiggyJ · 10/09/2025 17:11

When I look out of the window and see my neighbours bins out 😬
This is also the only reliable way of knowing which bin it is going to be.

stargirl1701 · 10/09/2025 17:18

The night before at bedtime.

BestZebbie · 10/09/2025 17:19

During the day before - I'm at our house for most of the day, so usually before the evening, it'll be at some point when I go into the kitchen to make a drink and see the bins. We are usually the first bin out, but not always, so I presume there are other 'afternoon before' bins on our road too.

TalulahJP · 10/09/2025 17:30

Evening before. We are told on the council website “before 7am”. But the reality of that is waking people up that early if Tou do that.

Although my neighbours puts his out at 6am: creaky gate, squeak speak squeak crunch crunch bang creaking gate clatter. At fucking 6am.

So irritating.

LittleGreenDragons · 10/09/2025 17:33

Evening before, usually after dinner.

Old House - they came between 10 am and 4pm.
New house - with the sodding lark. And they are quick so no time to rush down and put it out . I'm sure they have eaten 3 weetabix! 😕

Arlanymor · 10/09/2025 17:34

Our council states you cannot put out your bins any earlier than 6pm the night before collection. It's a sensible rule because we are coastal - so blustery at times, plus seabirds like to come along and help themselves, which they are less likely to do after dark because they 'go to bed' at dusk. If I happen be away overnight - which happens a fair bit - and will not be at home within the window for putting the bins out, then I either wait until the following week if there's not too much stuff, or take it myself to the tip if I need it out of the house.

Don't your council have this information available online? Ours do... my mum's is even better, they send text alerts!

Butteredtoast55 · 10/09/2025 17:37

Before it goes dark the night before.

Middlemarch123 · 10/09/2025 17:42

During the evening the night before. Ours are emptied about 7.00 a.m.

space99 · 10/09/2025 17:43

About 6pm the night before. Just about to put mine out now.

Willowkins · 10/09/2025 17:44

You're all so lucky. Our non-recyclable is in a bin bag so will be opened and scattered by foxes if we put it out the night before.
Instead it goes out about 8am on the day, about 15 minutes before the lorry trundles up.

Financial · 10/09/2025 17:45

I have an alarm set on my phone for 6pm the night before.
Any earlier, I may not be home, any later, I may have gone out again.
