I'm part of a club, a very active member, volunteer coach, and I was on the committee for nearly a decade, but stepped down for various reasons. Publicly because work and family life was very busy (it was), privately because the new chair was a control freak who wouldn't give committee members the autonomy to do the jobs allocated to them.
He's still in position and complaining that he does "everything". I wonder why that might be....?I've tried to gently explain that if he wants people to help, he needs to let them and I don't think I'm the only one to say it. He reckons he wants to step down at the end of this year and is trying to distribute different parts of his role, asking for volunteers.
I said I'd do one of them. Something very self contained, but which, to do it properly will need some financial backing. The club's finances are very strong and to my mind, that's what the money is for.
Anyway, I replied on the main group to say I'd do it on the condition I had the authority and backing to do it properly.
No one has even acknowledged me. I suspect I'll have put noses (or a nose) out of joint, but I'm not prepared to do it with him micromanaging.
Do I just leave it or post again , asking if the lack of response means I'm not needed?
