How much money would you spend on a night out?

just curious really
have a night out planned and don’t think I’ve been ‘out out’ since Covid (bearing in mind I did get pregnant and have a 2.5 year old plus recent relationship break up

whats a normal amount of money for a 40yo to spend on going into London and getting cocktails on a Friday evening?! (I already feel old and scared I’ll be surrounded by students half my age so please no comments I should be staying at home with my child!)

Well yes, dollars are worth less than pounds. Would you really spend $27 on a single cocktail?

Yes? I have no choice, if I want a cocktail. $27 is on the cheaper side where I live.

Mate. Don't start your night out in Leicester Swiare - it will 100% be horrible and over priced. Where are you going to go anyway - M&M world?

This 😂

Recent night out was £108, no travel included but for that I had 4 cocktails, couple of soft drinks, pasta dinner and 2 scoops of ice cream. Could of done it cheaper but also could have gone way over!

I’d speak to friend, see what budget they’re comfortable with, and then make plans based on that

I live in the Bristol area now and grew up locally but have lived all over, never further north than Manchester though sadly, I’d love to visit Edinburgh! In Manchester (2005ish) BF and I used to go to the Gay Village, into a bar/club,get lines of cocktail shots (like B52’s in a shot glass etc) and you’d get them 5 for £5! Then there was a club downstairs with fabulous people and after we’d swing back home to the Stockport border via Rusholme (The Curry Mile) and a takeaway. Best nights ever, about £50 for us as a pair, all in including taxi!

B52s were my favourite back in the day!!!! Thank you for reminding me- I’m gonna get one on Friday now 😬

I never understand questions like this. There is no 'normal' amount.

How much is your budget and how much is this night out worth to you?

I think cocktails are the biggest rip off going so won't buy them. Thankfully most of my friends think the same, so we don't tend to go on those sorts of nights out.

Plus how does knowing that other people having hundreds of pounds to spend on a night out help you if it's not affordable to you?

It’s more because I haven’t been out so am unsure what’s a ‘normal’ amount for a typical night? I’ve budgeted £100 and plan to get a dirty kebab nearer home to eat in my pjs at 3 in the morning catching up with biscuit week on bake-off.. but wondering if I’ll end up sober and sad with that budget or a happy tipsy? I do like a cocktail but need to be more sensible with money rather than trigger happy like I was 5 years ago 🤷🏾‍♀️

Lok to the poster that asked if I wanted to start in m&m world.. i remember Leicester Square having nice bars and a rooftop club over a casino (icon?) there’s also ruby blues and a general happy vibe.. and can walk to Covent Garden too.. I remember after a meal at just enjoying a live band at midnight in that market bit - there’s just always something happening in that area so fingers crossed.

i’m apprehensive about the cost but massively excited for an adult night out and honestly cannot wait
