Will be traveling from Stansted. General sightseeing. What's a nice one to stay in? Maybe with a few nice pubs and restaurants in the area around it. Thanks.

The one off Brick Lane is excellent - and a great location

BadActingParsley · 08/09/2025 13:47

Depends where you are coming in too, your budget and what you are planning to sightsee. Id find the brick Lane one too far out if I was doing mainly central London.

We often stay in the soho or vovent garden hub as its do central. Small rooms though and expensive.

I'll stay in the euston one, waterloo or a city one too. Also check.otber hotels as PI have shot up.in price.

We like the one in Angel, Islington. Really lovely bars and restaurants, make sure you book if there’s a particular restaurant you fancy.

We also usually stay in the Hub Covent Garden or the Travelodge CG. The Hub is typically more expensive and a no-frills type place, but designed well and is clean, and the Travelodge is ever so slightly further away from the buzz of CG (talking a couple minutes' walk) but is typically cheaper than the Hub. Clean, not bad food in the evening if you cba going off site, breakfast terrible (but all TL brekkies are minging in my humble opinion).

But for location alone they are both ideal, served by multiple tube stations and walkable to centrally-located sights.

We've also stayed at the PI Leicester Square which is quite grubby and way overpriced but right in the middle of the London chaos if that's what you're after. It's maybe a 10 minute walk from the other two and for me, not worth the cost.

Kings Cross or the St Pancras one would be my choice. Brilliant locations.

Wow, loads of ideas there, thank you everyone

Southwark Bank Side is very well placed for Borough Market and lots of bars/restaurants

mustytrusty · 08/09/2025 14:17

I love the Farringdon one. Right near Elizabeth Line tube - short walk to river and St Paul's, nice pubs nearby. Easy walk along Holborn to Covent Garden / Soho / West End but equally easy through Barbican to Spitalfields / Brick Lane.

ARichtGoodDram · 08/09/2025 14:19

We always end up staying in the one at Wembley Park. It's further out, but on both the Jubilee and metropolitan lines, and literally two minutes from the station.

The cost savings just make it worth it - we went two nights in the easter school holidays and paid £90.

But depends what matters more in cost vs location.

Weedkillerworks · 08/09/2025 14:23

I can recommend the Canary Wharf one for a good mix of location and price. It’s almost directly underneath Westferry DLR station, clean, quiet and I paid about £50 per room in the summer holidays.

The one by the London Eye.

SiobahnRoy · 08/09/2025 14:37

We have recently stayed in Z hotels instead of Premier Inn, they are usually better value and have cheese and wine in the evening!

ItsFunneh · 08/09/2025 14:51

Another vote for PI Southwark Bankside...so much to do on the doorstep and there's no passing traffic either.

BourgeoisBabe · 08/09/2025 15:14

Thanks again, it'll keep me busy checking all these ideas out

Premier Inn Hub at Kings Cross is great. Rooms are smaller than usual Premier Inn but fine for 1, think they might offer larger rooms. Nice Thai/Asian restaurant a few doors down.

blimeydarling · 08/09/2025 17:05

Hub Premier Inn on Marylebone Road. Newish, nice, well situated

Second this!!

Surprised county hall hasn't been mentioned as it's the one I see people rave about the most!

Holymotherforkingshirtballs · 08/09/2025 19:41

We stayed at Southwark Bankside and it was a great location. But try and request a room not on the ground floor. We had a ground floor room and had someone sat on the bench outside talking while we were trying to get to sleep. And the deliveries starting at the crack if dawn, so not a good night's sleep!

DaveofGreenGables · 08/09/2025 20:05

Hampstead is lovely.
