Washing school blazer?

My son has just started secondary school and has a blazer as part of his uniform. I just wondered if its ok to pop in washing machine once a week or if im better to get dry cleaned? (Although that will start to get pricey!)
I’m worried about the washing machine making the blazer lose its shape?
thanks for any advice x

Actually hate that the majority of blazers are the polyester efforts - a glorified suit jacket 🙄 dreading when DD is of age to need a school blazer

I must confess it has never occured to me to wash it nor have I ever thought it looked or smelled bad! My son is in Y9 🤷‍♀️

I started out thinking my son’s blazer had to be dry cleaned and kept paying for that. One day, on a whim, I put it in the washing machine and it came out absolutely fine!

Half termly is fine unless it’s actually gets mucky or stinks. My dc were pretty good with deodorant though being girls
