Film recommendation for DS 14

For various reasons I’ll be home alone with DS for his 14th birthday next week. He’s asked for a pizza and movie night with me Grin but I’m a bit stumped for what film to watch. He’s asked to watch Misery as he’s a Stephen King fan and read the book recently, but I can’t help feeling that’s too bleak for a birthday and would be better for another occasion.

Any recommendations of great movies we could watch together would be really helpful!

Misery, it's his birthday and he's asked for it.

Hot Fuzz or Shaun of the Dead

Hot Fuzz or Shaun of the Dead.
They're 15 rating. I watched both with my almost 14 year old recently. He thought they were hilarious which detracted from the (mostly comedy) gore a bit.

Hot Fuzz or Shaun of the Dead

Great minds!

Funny enough I watched Misery with my dd14 last week! She enjoyed it,
but I think she was only scared because I kept hiding under a blanket saying “oh no I remember this bit… you do not have to watch this bit if you don’t want to!” And I freaked her out. She loves Stephen king and immediately at the end said “I want the book, buy me the book!”

If he's read the book it'll be fine. The suspense is fantastic and he's wanting to see it.

We’ve seen hot fuzz, Shaun of the dead and Monty python….

Shawshank Redemption (although I agree with PP, let him watch Misery)

Sounds like we’re up for a night of Misery then!

Has he seen Terminator 2? Or The Princess Bride?
