Where to park for Sheffield law courts

Hi, can anyone local recommend where to park for the law courts on West Bar? I need full day parking, happy to walk 5-10 minutes and ideally less than £10 a day (if possible?)

also if there are any recommendations for somewhere to grab lunch around there?

thanks

There’s a big multi storey Q Park on Rockingham St, but it’s nearer £20/day. There are lots of little car parks in thar park of Sheffield eg Silver St, W Bar, Workhouse Lane, but they get busy quickly.

Could you come by train? The station is about 20 mins walk from the courts.

I would drive and park at Meadowhall Interchange (free) and get the train or tram into town. The nearest tram stop is Castle Square - about 20 min on the tram, then 10 mon walk. Return ticket is about £4.

Apart from potential parking difficulties, I find Sheffield city centre a bit tricky to drive round.

Lunch - no recommendations since the Blue Moon Cafe closed, but there’s loads of choice if you walk up to Division St. Sometimes there is a Greek gyros van in Barker’s Pool.

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads foes the car park at Meadowhall interchange get full up? Am I likely to still get a space at about 8.45/9am?

Meafowhall intergange us always film ny 7:30 IME. There is M'hall car park itself, you will get a space but they are said to be (not sure how) cracking down on using it as a P&R for town.
Where are you coming from? Middewood park & ride is my usual plan.

@SirBasil the Meadowhall interchange car park has an overflow car park on the other side of the road. The shopping centre car park has something like a 14 hour limit. I come from north of Sheffield on the M1 and usually manage to get a space at the interchange around 8.30.

i’ve checked. You can park for free in the shopping centre car park for a total of 14 hours a week.

Any tram from there

But see other below messages about the overflow car park. That may be better

RampantIvy · 06/09/2025 23:15

I would either park in Meadowhall or drive down to Nunnery Square Park and Ride car park. You can't get the wrong tram from there as it is the yellow route. You need to get off the tram at Cathedral. The law courts are about 200 metres from there.

If you are trying to get in nd out of Sheffield during the rush hour then park in any of the car parks in Meadowhall.

Its also any tram from Meadowhall, also yellow route.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/09/2025 08:49

From Leeds, MH is the nearest possibility to the motorway, and minimises driving through Sheffield traffic.

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads thanks so much

There are 2 NCP carparks you can pre-book that are near the law courts at west bar. Solly Street ( website says £12.95 from 8am to 5pm) and Campo lane ( website says £9.50 from 8am to 5pm)

For lunch of you want something interesting then you could go to Cambridge street collective. It's a food hall with lots of different types of street food. The Italian is good and I have heard good things about the Korean corn dogs but I haven't tried them yet.
There is also a good italian cafe called cafe tucci near the winter gardens. A bit of a walk but very good coffee and lovely sandwiches.

Breadcat24 · 07/09/2025 09:32

I use the campo lane one when I go in town. Use the NCP app and it's cheaper

Plenty of lunch opportunities. If you're in a hurry a M&S sandwich? Forgave is pretty much finished now? Sit outside if it's nice?

HermioneWeasley · 07/09/2025 14:02

Thank you all so much for your suggestions - this gives me lots of options for transport, parking and feeding my face.

MN collective is brilliant

I wonder how many people in here I know irl? <waves at random familiar faces>

itsgettingweird · 07/09/2025 16:07

There’s the Q park by ponds forge but be warned it’s uphill to the courts from there! Although the tram will take you up if you dont fancy the walk.

The Q park is also pre bookable.

HermioneWeasley · 08/09/2025 11:41

Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to help. I managed to get a spot at Meadowhall this morning and got the tram in - very easy! Just need to decide on lunch….
