I volunteer for the second hand uniform sales at my daughter's school. The school has recently changed policy so that blazers and some other branded items are no longer compulsory. We now have a huge pile of them that we can't sell and which are not going to be of any use to the general public.
I know that the likes of the Salvation Army (who have bins at our local dump) will take unwearable textiles to recycle into new fibres/pellets. I am not against donating the things to charity but the main purpose of our uniform enterprise was to raise funds for the PA. So I'd really prefer to find a way to turn these blazers into cash.
I wondered if anyone had any experience with an organisations who will pay by weight for unwanted textiles? Or has any other ideas? It doesn't matter if it's only a few quid.
Thanks!
