I wish I knew how to stop them. I have to buy poo bags to clear up after the neighbourhood cats. I have tried so many things and nothing seems to work. I have seen suggested on here, cat proofing the garden to stop them coming in. That would cost £££££ and I don't have that sort of money.

tartanhaggis7 · 03/09/2025 11:51

dont CONSIDER cat proofing your garden pal its NOT feasible if a cat wants to go into your garden you cant STOP it !!!! try canennyne pepper / or i believe you cat buy cat spike mats ( humane ) for areas if you want you can set up sonar scarers but they ONLYwork if you know where cat is entering GUD luck

Move It cat and dog granules has worked for us

Finteq · 03/09/2025 12:44

If you aren't worried about how it looks
Orange/ lemon peels around the area where you don't want them.

It works

Or cut an orange into around 6 pieces and put this around the area.

Try black pepper

Why are you shouting?

Getting a human male to pee in the garden works apparently. Tigar shit works as well. Lions not so much.

lovelydayIhave · 03/09/2025 19:14

I always just burry the shit in the soil, after a few days of rain it completely dissolves and it’ll enrich the soil for plants.

ellesbellesxxx · 03/09/2025 19:18

Following as we have a couple of new cats in the block which have taken to 💩 on our gravel. We have bought one of the solar flashy light things from Amazon… so far it’s worked BUT it has been raining so maybe not a completely test… will report back in a few days

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 03/09/2025 19:31

We have recently started to sprinkle coffee grounds from a coffee machine in the area where a random cat has been shitting, and it seems to have completely stopped.

tartanhaggis7 · 03/09/2025 19:57

what happens though when it rains ????

NannyOf8Girls · 03/09/2025 20:30

I was going to suggest spiky gravel might deter cats, but read above it hasn't

Tapsaffweather · 03/09/2025 21:09

Coffee grounds has worked for us too.

redmapleleaves1 · 03/09/2025 21:18

Broken bamboo skewers in the key beds works quite well and lasts. Have also tried chilli (worked well for a few weeks but got less effective with torrential rain), various commercial sprays to sprinkle (also stopped working after rain), cinnamon (rain again).... Skewers and large quantities of chilli flakes worked best.

CheerfulBunny · 03/09/2025 21:21

Prickly twigs, like rose branches or pyracantha in criss cross patterns works, especially on top of pots of empty earth I've found. Not sure if this works in your situation? It's the bare earth they go for i think. Good luck.

tartanhaggis7 · 06/11/2025 09:15

i thought de cats were the 💩 bludy 🐺 any one got any ideas how to get rid ( apart from 🔫 dem 😎

Another vote for coffee grounds - you need to keep applying them though as the second you stop the cat will come back (if you’re not a coffee drinker a lot of coffee shops let you take them for free for compost etc)

Chasingsquirrels · 06/11/2025 09:31

Neighbouring cats poo on our gravel drive, sometimes burying it in. DP picked up 3 the other day. Can't discourage access as drive obviously open to the road and spiky things no good.

Much much much worse since our dog, who only had drive access on lead when going out so wasn't chasing cats away, died earlier this year. Plus they are now going in the back garden which they didn't used to.

Might try coffee grounds.

Biglumpycustard · 06/11/2025 09:33

The only thing that works for me is a cat water motion sprayer.

Bineganzeameendee · 06/11/2025 09:50

Spray the fuckers with a Super Soaker. This obviously requires you to camp out at a window. Or yes, motion activated water sprinkler.

Sodding shitting cats

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 06/11/2025 09:51

I used a water pistol, it certainly made them think twice!

ByLemonFish · 06/11/2025 09:52
