Do last minute holiday deals still exist?

I want to go away at October half term on a tight budget. The cheapest places obviously at that time of year are hit and miss with the weather. I was thinking about leaving it till very last minute so I can see the weather forecast before booking.
But if we end up having to go somewhere further afield to get the sun, will the prices be any cheaper than they are now?

I remember the days of teletext holidays and last minute.com but unsure if this is now a thing of the past?

Try a travel agent. My sister often does that and gets really good deals.

Yes, TUI release deals on Tuesdays and the closer to the date you get the cheaper deals they may offer but you run the risk that they will sell out. If you aren’t fussy on location and only need a standard room you might be able to get an amazing deal, my dd got an ai cruise for £300 2 days before she sailed

Yes my friend swears by it, she uses Icelolly.com

Half terms seem to be discounted much.

You mean "don't" seem to be?

Thanks. It’s not the end of the world if we don’t end up going anywhere at all as really could do with saving money so I think I’m willing to take a risk.
Worse case we end up in a caravan in wales!

I have my eye on a holiday for October half term 2026 and I’ve just compared the prices and it’s more expensive for October 2025.
