Maybe we’ve just got lucky in the past

DC was super chilled / happy about starting Reception, Y1 & Y2

Y3 is causing all manner of issues

I think just general worry nothing too specific

Yes. Every time for mine. After the first day back they've been fine.

Not in my experience. Usually keen to be around their friends again unless it's starting a new school or exam years. Bit fed up about working all day after a summer off but not teary or worried.

I'd be wondering who they are afraid of.

Mine were always happy to go back. The only time I had any trouble was when DS decided to get married on the first day of the new school year and DD was unsettled. In retrospect I think I should have sent her to school rather than coming to the wedding!
