I'm the only one in this damn house who ever...

Turns off lights!
OMG. My kids are terrible but my husband is even worse. Every time I walk through the house I'm turning off a light in every room I pass. I was in bed last night and noticed light seeping through the cracks from the storage cupboard. Who opens a cupboard, turns on the light, gets what they need then just closes it again. My DH. Every time.
It drives me up the wall.

Feel free to add yours.

Shuts the door of the cup cupboard in the kitchen. Every time I go in there it's open.

BitOutOfPractice · 02/09/2025 14:45

I’m surprised the kids don’t switch lights off - o thought they were all environmentally conscious now.

For me it’s closing the food waste caddy.

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 02/09/2025 15:53

Puts shoes back on the shoe rack.

Sweetleftfood · 02/09/2025 15:55

My husband installed a timer light in the utility room for this reason and a thing for the hall door so it closes by itself!
With you all on the bins and toilet roll! I seem to be the only one to buy new toothpaste as well

runwithme · 02/09/2025 15:56

Puts shoes back on the shoe rack.

Me too. We have a shoe rack and a boot cupboard, yet DH persistently piles his footwear in a mountain by the back door, making it difficult to open it properly. It drives me round the bend.

This just reminds me of my mam shouting from upstairs "Changing the toilet roll isn't my HOBBY, you know. You don't have to leave it for me so thoughtfully!"

JustsoyouknowImnotlying · 02/09/2025 17:46

Flushes the toilet properly. Makes the beds. Does the washing. Cooks. And a million other things.

WellBing · 02/09/2025 17:49

Yes I feel your pain! If hubby has been in the bedroom last when I go to bed half asleep the full light is always on so bright.

Out of interest do you have blue eyes?
I do and my eyes are light sensitive. Hubby and kids all have brown eyes and I don't think the light bothers them!
I am also a bit sensory with lights I think. Hate supermarket ones or even in salons etc! Not relaxing at all.
Give me a soft light or even candle light 🕯️ 😂😍 xx

minipie · 02/09/2025 17:50

Washes clothes
Empties the lint filter
Cleans the dishwasher filter
Cleans the shower drain
Changes the cat’s water
Takes stuff on the stairs, up the stairs
Puts things that are about to run out on the shopping list

WellBing · 02/09/2025 17:52

Also I half read before I posted my reply (ADHD brain) ..I could add...

Puts shoes in the SHOE cupboard
Puts coats on the hooks in the cupboard
Puts empty toilet roll tubes in the bin
I'm sure there's more 😂...

MontysMum909 · 02/09/2025 17:54

WIPES SURFACES!!!!!!

Randomchat · 02/09/2025 17:55

hang towels and bath mats up so they will dry.

Both dh and ds fold their towels before hanging them on the towel rail so they don't dry properly. No-one ever hangs up the mat, just leave it lying wet on the floor so it starts to smell mouldy

ShodAndShadySenators · 02/09/2025 18:18

I'm the only one who opens curtains and blinds. Drives me mad to see a room all gloomy and I don't feel like it airs out properly with blinds closed.

I've mentioned it roughly a gazillion times and nothing changes - DS just says "Whoops!" - so I just open them myself. I allow myself a heavy sigh and sometimes a sarcastic comment to the cat if she's present.

Actually I do.
I don't tend to turn lights on unless it's properly dark, I wander around in the gloom. You could perform surgery in any room DH is in.
Also I dont like loud noise. I'm forever turning the volume on the TV down and DH is always bumping it up.

Opens or closes blinds. Absolutely drives me mad. If I drop dead the blinds will forever be whatever way they were.

WellBing · 02/09/2025 20:02

@Dontlletmedownbruceyou sound similar to me! I have enough noise going on in my head so I need calm 🤣 I went into the bedroom one day and hubby was asleep as he had been up early for work and the big light was on just over his head! Needless to say I asked him how he slept with Blackpool illuminations going on! If you're up north you will know that saying! X

mathanxiety · 02/09/2025 20:24

Deals with the spiders and other bugs. The rest of them are wusses.

Takes out the kitchen bin and the recycling.
